Services

Professional services such as dentistry, optical or chiropody can be sought for individuals but this may incur costs that are outside of our control. (Treatment from a qualified NHS chiropodist or podiatrist will be arranged unless specified by the resident or their representative).

A hairdresser visits Darsdale weekly and rates are available upon request.

Darsdale Home provides 24-hour care for residents over the age of 65, who have sight or sight/hearing difficulties. Care plans are drawn up which reflect individual needs and preferences and are subject to on-going review.

Health Care Professionals should contact either our Manager, or Deputy, with regards to possible placements.

Permanent or respite placements are offered after completion of a pre-admission assessment. Permanent placements are subject to up to six weeks trial applicable to either party, with four weeks notice in writing by either party.

Day-care is available Monday to Friday and transport can be arranged.

The resident's health is carefully monitored and visits to outside agencies/clinics are maintained. The resident will initially be temporarily registered with a local General Practitioner then after the trial period they will be registered permanently with the GP.

Menus are planned around the resident's wishes and change weekly on a four-week rota with several options to choose from. Meal times are as flexible as is physically practical. All meals can be served in the resident's own room if preferred.

We aim to maintain individual's hobbies, interests and social activities. Regular in-house activities include quizzes, musical entertainers, religious services (various denominations); fish 'n' chip suppers, bingo and knitting craft. Other activities can be arranged if desired. Outside activities may be subject to a small charge, however costs are kept to a minimum and subsidised by The Darsdale Amenities Fund.

Laundry is attended to on the premises and resident's clothes will be laundered and returned to their rooms within a few days. We do however request that items of clothing be clearly named preferably with sew in labels. It does make the process a lot easier. Dry cleaning can be arranged on behalf of the resident.
