Accommodation
Darsdale Home offers "home from home"comforts with the
minimum of restrictions. Resident's rooms are regarded as
their private area and they are encouraged to personalise them
with their own belongings, as far
as is reasonably practical.
The grounds are accessible by all residents.
There is also an enclosed courtyard, which is equipped
with tables, chairs and sunshades. If the weather does
not allow sitting out there is a conservatory for those
who wish to use it.
There are two comfortably decorated
communal lounges with various types of armchair to
suit individual needs. One lounge is equipped with
a television, audio equipment and a piano for entertainment.
The separate dining room has a serving hatch from the
kitchen where all meals are prepared. There is also
a smoking room for those residents who wish to smoke.
The Home has 30 single bedrooms, 23
of which have en-suite facilities i.e. a toilet, wash-hand
basin, mirror, shaving point and overhead lighting.
All en-suite facilities are wheelchair accessible and
fitted with grab rails.
Most bedrooms are situated on the ground
floor; those on the first floor are accessible by both
stairs and passenger lift. The carpeted bedrooms are
equipped with a single bed, wardrobe, large chest of
drawers, bedside cabinet and an armchair; some are
fitted with TV aerial and telephone points.
